MSFC Vending Peanut Butter Is Probably Safe

I can report that the vending machine in Bldg 4205 has a memo from Quaker Foods (Owned By PepsiCo) stating basically the following (i.e. I did not copy the complete memo here; I got this text from their website, Welcome to Quaker Oats).

Quaker Oats does NOT purchase any peanut butter from the company involved in the recall. All of our Quaker products continue to meet the high standards for quality and safety that you have come to know and expect from us for more than 130 years.

HOWEVER, the vending machine in Bldg 4205 does NOT contain ANY Quaker Peanut items! It INSTEAD contains Nabisco, Planters, Lays and Lance products with peanut spread and these manufacturers are NOT owned by Quaker Foods/PepsiCo.

I did a search on the other Manufacturers websites and found the following on each:

I don’t know if any of the MSFC Vending machines or snack areas contain other peanut branded items besides Quaker, Kraft, Nabisco, Planters, Lays and Lance (which are all OK), but I found out MANY, MANY other brands affected by the recall (from Food & Drug Administration (FDA) website and from CNN).

[EDITORS NOTE: You can do a search by following directions here.]

These recalls involve items produced from January 2007 to now that are peanuts, chocolate covered peanuts, cookies, ice cream, ice cream cones, Boston baked beans, trail mix, candy bars, and Chinese frozen dinners. (I added the parts in italics):

Therefore, it is best to check to be sure that any peanut items from as far back as January 2007 should be researched before eating!!!

Hoping this helps someone!
